It is a folk tale that has been passed down for generations in China, now illustrated and brought to English speaking audiences.This book is the first book in a series involving the main character Ling. Amazing book! Great story with beautiful and vivid illustrations.The translations are really nice for anyone learning Chinese. Embarrassingly enough, I’m a full grown adult using this to learn Chinese...but I think it would be a great way for kids being raised in a multicultural household to learn to read in both languages. Looking back at my childhood raised in a Chinese-American household but not being able to speak/read Chinese, I wish my parents read a book like this to me because I feel like I’ve missed out on a lot of my culture.
