The book is informative, easy to read, and well laid out. Occasionally, the text is a bit dense. But, that is not unexpected with a history book.

I might have liked a note informing the reader from which language each of the sources were translated (for improved understanding of author bias/historical location).

The book was used but in good shape. Had some highlights in it but nothing that interfered with reading it. I recommend the book to anyone who needs a good used book for History class and doesn't want to pay the full price of a new one.

I cannot say enough positive things about this tome of learning. Beautiful pages with black, bold page numbers. Elegant stories from old dudes.

Much of the primary sources have a intro in italics that many times skews the meaning of the actual primary source. I found it to be annoying
