Purchase options and add-ons

Having campaigned on land during their early existence, the Hospitallers fought mainly at sea from the turn of the 14th century. The emphasis was now on small-scale operations, rather than the crusading invasion that had so often come to grief. Having conquered Rhodes, the Order fortified it and transferred there in 1309. A period of on-off warfare with the Mamluks became full-blown conflict with the Ottomans, who captured Rhodes in 1522, forcing the Hospitallers to transfer to Malta. This book, the second of two, takes a close look at the men who lived and died for the Hospitaller cause in this key period, and the political and economic role that the Order played within the Christian empire.

I've used this book a lot for research. The drawings are the best with detail about pieces of armor and how they are used/worn. Knight Hospitaller really focuses on the knights themselves rather than the order, which was perfect for my research. I keep this book on my desk and refer to it often!

Fast delivery. And another outstanding Osprey book. Thanks!

Good little paperback, I found it very helpful when I was writing my novels. The illustrations are nice and colourful and the text is detailed, easy to follow and logically laid out.
If you need to know about the weaponry or other little details of the Hospitallers this is a good place to start!

A very informed book for the military history buff, or like me, Amber of the St john ambulance who wish to know about the orders history. Although I have given 5 stars it's a shame there isn't more coloured pictures in the book of some of the important sites the historian talks about, but otherwise a good book from osprey

I was a bit disappointed with the drawings. They were not sharp and clear enough. Too impressionistic use of the brush. Not enough warrior masculinity in the expression.
