Editorial Reviews

Review

Brad tells the reader not only of the great man himself, but how to read his well-known books and to cherish them. The difficult issues are not shirked, covering everything between classical theism and donatism. The ideal start-up companion.

-- Paul Helm (Emeritus Professor of the History and Philosophy of Religion, King's College, London)

This book is a valuable introduction to Augustine as a coherent and persuasive theologian. For those who want to know where he stood on the great themes of Christian truth, this is an excellent place to begin.

-- Gerald Bray (Research Professor, Beeson Divinity School at Samford University, Birmingham, Alabama)

... a well-researched, thoughtful, and straightforward introductory guide to the main elements in Augustine's mind and writings, from which any student of historical theology can profit. I will be urging my students to utilize it.

-- Nick Needham (Lecturer in Church History, Highland Theological College, Dingwall, Scotland)
